\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

International Fellowship Program on Nonviolence and Peace \u2013II\u00a0\u00a0 (IFPNP -II) was organized by Sevagram\u00a0Ashram Pratishthan in association with Gandhi International, Academic University College for Nonviolence and\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Human Rights and MGM University. This four months fellowship program (Oct. 02, 2023\u2013January 30,2024) was offered online and using English medium to support the international participants.\u00a0In addition participants were given an\u00a0opportunity to participate in\u00a0a Colloquium on Peace and related themes\u00a0held in\u00a0\u00a0January 2024 in India .<\/p>\n

The response to the announcement of the program was overwhelming. More than 60 applications from thirteen countries were given admission.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Inauguration<\/strong><\/b>:\u00a0It was\u00a0inaugurated on Oct. 02, 2023 by\u00a0Prof. Ramin Jahanbegloo\u00a0Vice Dean and Executive Director, Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Peace Studies\u00a0Jindal Global Law School, Delhi, India and Prof.\u00a0 Vilas Sapkal Vice Chancellor of MGM University\u00a0 presided over the function. There was special message from\u00a0 Mr. Louis Campana,\u00a0Gandhi International, France and \u00a0Guest of Honour:\u00a0 AUNOHR University , Lebanon on behalf of Dr. Ogarit Younan,Dr. Nahla Harb\u00a0 addressed the session .Smt. Ashaben Bothra ,President, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan \u00a0blessed the students and conveyed her best wishes for the fellowship program.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Key Persons<\/strong><\/b>:\u00a0This international fellowship program was facilitated by \u00a0Dr. Siby K Joseph; Prof. Preman and Mishra; \u00a0Prof. D John\u00a0\u00a0Chelladurai and\u00a0 Dr. \u00a0Ogarit Younan.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Eminent teachers and facilitators from across the globe conducted the session. Notable among them were\u00a0\u00a0Prof.Michael Sonnleitner, Retd. Ambassador\u00a0\u00a0P. A. Nazareth,\u00a0\u00a0Mazen Abou Hamdan, Daniele Taurnio,\u00a0\u00a0Prof. Jeevan Kumar ,\u00a0\u00a0Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Prof. Shipra Singam,\u00a0\u00a0Heather C. Cumming, Leandro Uchoas, Amadou Jallow,\u00a0Dr. Diana Barreto Avila ,Daniela Sepulveda Ruiz\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alma Glower Avila,\u00a0\u00a0Dr.Poncho Hern\u00e1ndez and others<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0Objective:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Program aimed at introducing to the international participants the fundamentals of Gandhian\u00a0nonviolence and peace; the dynamics of nonviolence;\u00a0 the ideas of Peace in the Global context and its\u00a0conditions and constitution; Methods of nonviolence action: struggle for justice and peace; construction\u00a0of sustainable living.<\/p>\n

The program also aimed at equipping individuals to transform conflict into creative experience; and\u00a0empowering them to handle human situation (turbulent) constructively and contribute to the betterment\u00a0of global peace;<\/p>\n

Program Structure:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Sessions were conducted thrice a week (90 Minutes each) on Thursdays, Fridays\u00a0and Saturdays. Participants were given \u00a0optional field practical tasks to the extent of three hours a week\u00a0(neighbourhood engagement)<\/p>\n

\n

Methodology:<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0The program was conducted mostly in a participatory and interactive manner, using\u00a0audio visuals and PPT, to enable the participants with the basic concept of peace and nonviolence in the\u00a0light of Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s Truth.<\/p>\n

\n

\u00a0Outcome:<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0In order to facilitate the participants, we launched an interactive website to upload all relevant\u00a0materials. The whats app group helped sharing instant insights and quick responses.\u00a0Summary reading materials of every session were shared to the participants. All the sessions were\u00a0recorded and a link was provided to those who could not attend any of the sessions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Twenty\u00a0 one candidates successfully completed the course.<\/p>\n

Challenges:<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Although we had planned many things, all of them could not be translated into action\u00a0effectively.\u00a0\u00a0For instance, we could not monitor the journal writing of the participants and\u00a0\u00a0guide them\u00a0effectively in the field practicals\u2026<\/p>\n

Recommendation:<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0 Twenty one \u00a0candidates may be declared as Peace Fellows and ask them to commit for\u00a0sustainable peace through\u00a0\u00a0sustaining action.<\/p>\n
